Well, that was something.
While I was stuck amid mediocrity with my life, I took my brother's advice to watch a sports anime. And particularly "Haikyu!".
For starters let me give you the background check here: the manga is written by Haruichi Furudate and was published by Shueisha. The individual chapters were serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2012. And as of now, the manga has sold over 25 Million copies.
While now, it's the post is about the first season. So let's get that rolling.
The season is set to a humble beginning of a middle schooler Shoyo Hinata, who eats-drinks & sleeps through volleyball. It'd be perfect if I say he's sort-of obsessed with the game not-to-mention his undying love & respect for the Kurasuno's legendary player called "The Little Giant".
Now the sad part about his love for the game is, his middle school doesn't have enough volleyball-fanatics so up until his middle school 3rd year, he's not allowed to play any official game since he's isn't backed up with enough players. Now as the saying goes, it's not a indie game! So somehow Hinata is able to get along or rather provoke some of his classmates to join the team. So now it's his final term and here we witness a tournament on the anime.
Here he plays against Tobio Kageyama (The king of the court) of Kitagawa Daichi where he first rattled after facing some serious stomach growling as a result of severe anxiety issues. It was a no brainier as Tobio's team beats Hinata's, but the crowd and Tobio witnesses some serious talent in Hinata as he leaps and jumps to keep his team-mates entwined in the game. No-spoiler here on further, so go watch it guys (if you haven't).
Soon after middle school ends Hinata joins Karasuno in hopes to beat Kageyama but guess what They both are on the same time and this is where the fun begins!
- Story
If I had to rate the story then all I can rate it full stars! The story is amazing and the plot eventually develops, there aren't any weird time skips and the anime takes it sweet time to progress. The story has the most important part which are good characters, good character history and overall there is a complete balance.
- Music
The music is also amazing, the openings and endings are good but what attracts me the most is the bgm (Background Music) and a sports anime without good background music is a failure but Haikyu exceeds my expectations and the music makes me feel more connected to the anime.
Here's one track listen to it!
- Characters
The Characters are too amazing each of them having history which still affects their presents and different dreams. The Characters are obviously very important and Haikyu has a good set characters, its not just the Karasuno team but other rival team also has pretty good characters.
- Humor
If you have watched anime for a long time now (especially sports anime ) then you know that sports and humor go hand in hand and Haikyu will make you laugh everytime you watch it as the author also adds humor to serious scenes. Infact characters like Ryu, Nishinoya are always the centre of attractions in these scenes, its just too much fun.
I hope I haven't given much spoilers because I really want you guys to watch it because once you start watching you're gonna keep watching, and believe you are not gonna hate me asking you to watch it! Its 5/5 Series.
